Volunteer Vacations in Honduras
Located near Tela and other beach towns on the Caribbean coast, Lancetilla is the worlds second largest botanical garden. Slowly recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Mitch in 1998, you could provide valuable help to put the district back on track. Working alongside park rangers and researchers, you might replant saplings, clear trails, or help with general maintenance work. When not working, you can laze on the beaches or explore and enjoy Honduran culture.

Why the project needs volunteers: Lancetilla only receives twelve percent of its budget from the Honduran Government and although it is very productive as a research center it has become mostly self-sufficient and to a large extent dependent on help from volunteers. Also, with the effects of global warming and also deforestation becoming a bigger threat, extra effort is needed to preserve what remains.
